Blazing a trail of raw energy and refined grace, Morris Offspring’s dancers perform an unparalleled display of passionate and fiery dance from the exotic shores of England. Their musicians, unleash a unique, tantalising
blast of music and song to complete the magic.

In a feast for the eyes, ears and imagination, rich and fresh music sets the scene for the startling new choreography of Morris Offspring. This kaleidoscope of colour and song promises to be an exhilarating night out for everyone.

“An excited audience witnessed a revolution in Morris Dancing” fRoots

The Morris is a cultural icon that, despite ridicule, has maintained a continually shifting significance throughout England's history. This show sets out the relevance of this most spectacular element of England's cultural inheritance for a contemporary audience and demonstrates that the Morris and the music that supports it are as compelling as any other art form.

“They have a grace and verve that is , well this will sound weird, but the whole thing’s actually quite sexy.”
Colin Irwin, 'In Search of Albion'

Rising is a full-length stage performance with live music. Masks, giant puppets and body paint contrast with stark white costume. The dances move through traditional formats to new ideas, from swirling forms with many bodies, to rapid paced stick dances and mesmerizing solos. The musicians include the cream of the new generation of traditional musicians John Dipper, Saul Rose, Jackie Oates, James Delarre and Matthew Keegan-Phipps. Their 'other bands' include Waterson:Carthy, Faustus, Mawkin, and The English Acoustic Collective.

On English Ground, Morris Offspring's first show, was a collaboration with the EAC. The success of the show met with huge approval from delighted audiences, and merited them a feature on BBC2's 'The Culture Show'. Rising, the much anticipated follow-up is premiered in London and Suffolk this November. The team will be out on the road again in February 2008.
